I'm here for you.

There are 35 fic recs behind the cut. Yeah, yeah, I got a little carried away, what do you want from me? I just wanted to be thorough.

If you have no idea who any of these people are, this is the Fall Out Boy primer, this is The Academy Is... primer and this is the Gym Class Heroes primer, although the only people from those bands that show up in the fic below are William Beckett and Travis McCoy. This is the Panic! At The Disco primer, although I'm not reccing much Panic! fic because that's not how my tastes run. I don't have a primer for My Chemical Romance, but I enjoyed the stories that I've recced in which MCR cameos before I knew who the hell they were. The primer for Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship is sadly locked, but all you really need to know about Gabe to read these is that he writes songs about locking people in his basement, he collaborated with Beckett and Travis on the Snakes On A Plane song and they're all BFF, and he does lots of gay shit.

This Is Me Broken Down by beingothrwrldly

This fic gets me where it counts every time. I tend to avoid stories about Pete's OD'ing, both because it's not a subject I trust most writers to touch with a ten-foot pole, and because nothing could ever be as good as this. I don't really know how to rec it, because it's so personal for me, but--yeah. Well-written, believable, hopeful, perfect.

It's Like The Pied Piper (Only It's A Little Bit More Like A Cult) by queenofhell

AU where Pete is a cult leader. queenofhell pretty much knocks that concept out of the park, and it terrifies me a little. This is creepy and scary and soso good, and makes you see all of these bands in a completely different light. She's written more fic on the same universe, focusing on other characters, but I haven't read it yet because I have to pace myself with this concept, as I am a wimp.

Intergalactic by thegoldsky

William/Travis, with a really great, inebriated Travis and a dirty exhibitionist William. So hot and good and delicious.

The Philosophy From The Science by gigantic (Pete/Patrick, fighting)

Pete getting into fistfights, and Patrick being there in the aftermath. This isn't exactly h/c--CJ's style is too subtle for that. She weaves their relationship so well into the fights, and I absolutely adore her Patrick voice. And even though William Beckett is only in this for, like, a paragraph, he steals the show. Plus, for me, coming from comics, Supernatural, etc, sometimes there's just not *nearly* enough violence in this fandom, and this fic fills that hole.

Speeding Through Familiar by gigantic (William/Travis/Gabe)

William/Travis/Gabe. A great introduction to the characters--these guys are so the Tim/Bart/Kon of bandslash for me, a happy fun OT3 of best friends that's made of sunshine and puppies. And booze, and pot, and really hot porn, in this story. Like, *seriously* hot porn.

Quicker Than You Can Say Holy Shit by gigantic

William/Travis. I just want to roll around in CJ's stoned Travis voice. This is sweet and funny and absolutely the way things would go down between them--their strange, quirky friendship shines through so perfectly.

And The Things In Between by plainsong_x

Patrick/Travis. Travis wants attention, and Patrick just rolls with it. Smut in the studio, fun and sensual.

It Sparks Excitement by gigantic

Pharrell Williams/Pete. Yeah, the pairing is kind of random, but she just makes it work. I didn't know a damn thing about Pharrell before I read this fic, but I was in love with him by the end of it. It's sweet and lyrical and thoughtful, and I love seeing Pete and all of his boys through an outsider's POV. The sequel, featuring Ryan Ross of Panic! At The Disco, is also great: And It Goes Off.

And The Moon In Their Net by iphignia939

An AU where Pete is a faerie, and it's a little scary how believable that becomes in this fic. This is longer than most other fic I've found in this fandom, and it has a great, engaging plot and a Patrick voice that I'm absolutely in love with. Even though it's an AU, it really nails the Pete/Patrick dynamic and is a great introduction to them--plus, it's the fic I point to when I need to explain that Patrick is Pete's Robin, no, really.

we could make beautiful music together - 18 (Glenview) by iphignia939

An AU where Pete and Patrick meet through craigslist. I really love the courtship in this, Pete and Patrick cautiously discovering each other. Patrick is only seventeen here, and he's so perfectly insecure and melodramatic about Pete. The emotional plot in this makes my toes curl every time, watching them almost fuck it up before they get it right.

Call It Enough by joyfulseeker

This is pretty much one of the definitive Pete/Patrick stories, for me. She just gets it so right, weaving Patrick's pining in and out of perfect details about the band's life on the road. Joe and Andy often get shoved to the side in fic, but they're perfect and hilarious here.

The Beating Of Our Hearts by addictedkitten and eleanor_lavish

I'm actually not sure what the title of this is--on Sara's site it's The Beating Of Our Hearts, but on the LJ entry it's The Songs And The Words. Anyway! The Pete PoV is just pitch-perfect, funny and self-deprecating and fucked-up, but in a way that makes you smile. The premise is so, so fucking perfect and believable that I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been used more in fic. Plus, yummy handjob porn.

Lace Up Your Skates Real Good by plainsong_x

Patrick crushing on Pete, set in the early days of the band when Patrick is still jailbait. God, this fic is funny. You get to see baby's first bondage play, which is both adorable, hot, and hilarious.

Not A Big Deal by lovelypoet

Telepathy fic! Beautifully written, and made me go, okay yeah, this actually would make a lot of sense with what we know about Pete and Patrick's songwriting method. The porn here is really interesting and different--lovelypoet takes full advantage of the mind powers in the sex scenes, and the results are fantastic.

'Cause I Don't Wanna Read The Book (I'll Watch The Movie) by callsigns

Patrick/Ryan. I love Jessa's characterization of everyone here, Pete always loud and annoying and himself on the sidelines even though the story's not about him. Patrick and Ryan get into movies, and then into each other.

Pink Bics and Bratz Dolls (A Gentle Timeline) by one900

Pete and Patrick through other people's eyes, snarky and funny and warm. The boys of My Chemical Romance and The All-American Rejects make appearances in this, although all you really need to know about them is that, you know, they're bands FOB has sometimes toured with. That's all I knew when I read the fic, anyway, and I still loved it.

Gerard/William/Patrick. Yeah, I know, but it really does make sense in the fic! Or well, it doesn't exactly, but Gerard is just as confused as we are. William Beckett just kind of *happens* to people. Hot and funny.

Pete and Patrick in a dystopian future. The universe-building in this absolutely blows me away. It's longish and chilling and dense, and apparently this is just Part 1, but I haven't seen a Part 2 posted yet, and this stands well as its own story.

Pete goes blind. This is angsty but not over-the-top, and I love the lyricism.

VAMPIRE FIC. Set in the same AU as the 16 Candles music video (which, if you haven't seen, seriously, run, don't walk). Pete/Patrick, clever and hot with a darker twist at the end. Sara shows us that Fall Out Boy is still Fall Out Boy, even with all of these vampires.

So, so funny. Pete and starlets! Ashlee Simpson and Lindsay Lohan! This is one of the most clever things I've read in this fandom.

Yeah, I'm totally biased, I betaed this fic and begged Jam to write it, but dude. Patrick/Travis, and Pete being voyeuristic--there's no bad there. She has Pete's voice nailed down, and I love this look at a potential Patrick/Travis relationship. jamjar is one of my favorite writers from comics fandom, and she works her magic here, too.

Andy/Joe! There's not enough Andy/Joe in the world, but this fic makes up for some of that. Joe is inebriated, Andy goes with it, there's porn that makes me smile a lot.

Pete walks in on Patrick jerking off, and it goes from there. It doesn't exactly go the classic slash route you'd expect from that premise, because this is Pete Wentz and he just can't do anything in a non-fucked-up way. But it's funny all the same, and I love this Patrick.

Blood On The Sheets And Your Name On My Collarbone by fluffontop

More vampire fic! This explores more characters in that universe than just Pete and Patrick, showing us how things got to the point they are when the video is set. This is at turns dark and funny, hot and surreal, with a kickass twisty plot.

The one thing that makes me dissatisfied with this fandom is the lack of female characters. But Gale makes up for that a little with this fic, an AU where Pete and Patrick are Peyton and Trish. She tracks their lives from the first days of the band to current time, and I love the ways her girls are both similar and different to their boy counterparts.

Travis/Beckett, set in space! Gym Class Heroes are space pirates and Beckett catches a ride on their ship. I love Travis and Bill together even in a completely different setting, and this universe feels so perfect for them.

One of the most fascinating takes on genderswitch I've ever read. The only frustrating thing is that I wish it were longer. William woke up male.
